Compound Overview & Technical Mechanism

Amentoflavone is a naturally occurring bi-apigenin derivative (biflavonoid) found in plants such as Selaginella tamariscina and Ginkgo biloba. Composed of two apigenin units covalently linked via a C3′-C8” carbon-carbon bond, its dimeric structure grants exceptional potency across multiple intracellular signaling cascades compared to monomeric flavonoids.

In laboratory, metabolic, and cell-signaling research, Amentoflavone displays a distinct biochemical profile:

Phosphodiesterase (PDE) Inhibition: Acts as a potent non-selective phosphodiesterase inhibitor (specifically PDE5 and PDE3 subtypes), preventing the breakdown of cyclic AMP (cAMP) and cyclic GMP (cGMP) to promote smooth muscle relaxation and intracellular calcium mobilization.
Fatty Acid Synthase (FAS) & Alpha-Glucosidase Inhibition: Demonstrates competitive inhibition of hepatic fatty acid synthase, reducing de novo lipogenesis in lipid metabolism cell culture models.
GABA Receptor Modulation & Neuroprotection: Interacts allosterically with the benzodiazepine site of $\text{GABA}_\text{A}$ receptors while downregulating NF- $\kappa\text{B}$ mediated inflammatory cytokine transcription.

The 2.5-gram standardized powder format provides precise batch-to-batch active constituent control, making it ideal for laboratory assay design and pilot-scale chemical evaluations.

What Industrial Chemical Users Look For

When commercial procurement managers, industrial chemists, and laboratory directors source bulk Amentoflavone extract powder and raw chemical inventory, core specifications include:

Verified Active Standardization & COA Document: Complete lot characterization via High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and UV-Vis spectroscopy to confirm exact 20% active biflavonoid concentration, total polyphenol profiling, and freedom from heavy metal residues or organic extraction solvents.
Scalable Wholesale Supply: Uninterrupted supply chain pipelines capable of providing bulk standardized powder shipments for contract manufacturing and contract research.
Powder Integrity & Moisture Barrier: Processed and packaged under controlled atmospheric conditions to prevent hygroscopic clumping, polyphenolic degradation, or fine particle agglomeration.
Batch-to-Batch Uniformity: Strict quality control standards guaranteeing identical active compound release rates, solubility profiles, and particle size distribution across all production lots.
Chain-of-Custody Logistics: Secure domestic shipping pipelines with moisture-proof, light-impermeable packaging to guarantee compound integrity upon arrival.

Key Applications in Research & Industrial Settings

Phosphodiesterase (PDE5/PDE3) Enzymatic Assays: Measuring cAMP/cGMP accumulation velocity and intracellular kinase signaling dynamics.
Lipogenesis & FAS Inhibition Profiling: Quantifying lipid accumulation rates and enzymatic downregulation in primary hepatocyte cultures.
$\text{GABA}_\text{A}$ Receptor Allosteric Binding Studies: Evaluating competitive ligand interactions at benzodiazepine binding domains.
Analytical Method Validation: Utilizing standardized 2.5-gram reference samples for establishing HPLC active-marker baseline curves and purity profiles.
